The Heltec MeshTower addresses a specific need: permanent outdoor repeater installations where mains power is unavailable. An integrated 18V solar panel combined with 3x2800mAh lithium batteries creates a self-sustaining system.
Built on the proven nRF52840 and SX1262 platform, it delivers reliable LoRa communication across distances exceeding 10km in favourable conditions. The IP65-rated enclosure handles British weather whilst tolerating temperatures from -20°C to 60°C.
Position this on a hillside, rooftop, or remote location and let it extend mesh coverage indefinitely without ongoing attention.

System architecture
The MeshTower incorporates MeshSolar technology—an integrated approach to power management and communication. The battery management system provides comprehensive protection against overcharging, deep discharge, short circuits, and overheating.
Charging flexibility accommodates multiple scenarios: 18-24V solar via MPPT controller, USB PD3.0 fast charging for rapid deployment, or external DC power where available. Web-based configuration allows parameter adjustment.
The system supports both standard lithium (3.7V nominal) and LiFePO4 (3.2V nominal) chemistry. Hardware expansion interfaces enable addition of displays, GPS modules, and GPIO accessories for specialised applications.
