What is the PiComputer S3?
Not all mesh devices roll off production lines in their thousands. The PiComputer S3 emerges from the workshop of Bobricius, a hardware designer from Slovakia, combining ESP32-S3 capability with a full physical keyboard and colour display in a cyberdeck format that demands attention.
Where most LoRa devices rely on smartphone apps for text entry, the PiComputer includes 30-36 mechanical keys enabling direct message composition. The 2.8" IPS colour screen displays conversations and network status with vibrant clarity.
This represents niche hardware for committed enthusiasts. Also known through the "Armachat" project, it appeals to those who appreciate building unique communication tools with personality.

Detailed description
The PiComputer S3 evolved from earlier designs based on the RP2040. This S3 variant utilises the BPI-PicoW-S3 (an ESP32-S3 module) enabling full Meshtastic and MeshCore compatibility.
Purchase options include DIY kits comprising bare PCB sets (seven boards) for complete self-assembly, or fully assembled units with LoRa module installed. Either path delivers a genuinely distinctive device.
Fair warning: This originates from a small independent maker, not a large manufacturer. Expect artisanal character rather than mass-production uniformity. The reward is a functional and thoroughly unique communication device.
