RAK WisBlock starter kit

Build exactly what you need. This modular platform delivers professional quality and exceptional efficiency for solar-powered deployments.

Important: 868 MHz for Europe

Always buy the 868 MHz version for use in Europe. The 915 MHz version (US) is not allowed in Europe.

What is the RAK WisBlock?

Imagine deploying a mesh repeater on a remote Welsh hillside, powered indefinitely by a small solar panel. The RAK WisBlock Meshtastic Starter Kit makes this practical through its nRF52840 processor drawing just 2.0 microamps during sleep and an SX1262 radio offering -142 dBm receive sensitivity.

The system centres on a baseboard (RAK19007) accepting swappable modules. Four expansion slots accommodate GPS receivers, displays, or environmental sensors without soldering. That remarkable 170 dB link budget ensures your hillside repeater actually reaches the valleys below.

RAK Wireless was established in 2014 in Shenzhen by Ken Yu, formerly of Qualcomm, and Terry Yan. Their "IoT Made Easy" philosophy serves both hobbyist tinkerers and large-scale professional deployments across the globe.

Why the RAK WisBlock?

For solar-powered infrastructure nodes, nothing else compares. A 3350mAh battery can sustain the WisBlock for over two weeks, and the dedicated solar input simplifies charging from photovoltaic panels. Deploy it on a hillside and forget about it for months.

The modular philosophy offers tremendous flexibility. Start with the basics, then add GPS when you need positioning, environmental sensors for weather monitoring, or additional I/O for automation tasks. Everything connects without soldering.

Be aware: The starter kit includes only the baseboard and LoRa module. GPS receiver, display, and battery must be sourced separately. This platform targets experienced builders who want granular control over their deployment.

Buy RAK WisBlock

The starter kit begins around £25. Recommendation: Consider the complete Meshtastic Starter Kit bundle for better value and a simpler start.
