MeshCore base station

Station g2

When ordinary range will not suffice. This high-power base station forms the backbone of serious mesh networks.

Important: 868 MHz for Europe

Always buy the 868 MHz version for use in Europe. The 915 MHz version (US) is not allowed in Europe.

What is the station g2?

Regional mesh networks require anchor points capable of hearing distant nodes and responding with authority. The Station G2 delivers precisely this through its 5W (37 dBm) transmitter and specially designed low-noise amplifier providing 4dB better receive sensitivity than typical hardware.

The 1.3" OLED screen (SSH1107 controller) displays real-time mesh status without requiring smartphone interaction. WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity allow configuration, though GPS requires an external module connected via the GROVE port.

B&Q Consulting (trading as Unit Engineering), led by Neil Hao, developed this specifically for infrastructure deployments. Their reputation rests on producing stable, reliable hardware that operators can depend upon.

Why the station g2?

The Station G2 serves as network backbone infrastructure. With 5W output and superior receive sensitivity, it communicates with nodes that lower-powered devices cannot hear. Ideal as a central hub, hilltop repeater, or gateway linking isolated areas.

Regional mesh communities, including the Meshtastic Bay Area Group, deploy these units to establish reliable backbone coverage. The hardware demonstrates notably better stability than alternatives, avoiding the random resets that plague some devices.

Regulatory note: This requires mains or vehicle power - not a portable device. Fixed installations, emergency operations centres, and vehicle mounts represent typical use cases. Operating at 5W may require an amateur radio licence depending on your specific circumstances under UK regulations.
