Heltec vision master e213
When every milliamp counts, this e-ink board delivers months of standby. Built for patient monitoring and low-maintenance mesh nodes.
Important: 868 MHz for Europe
Always buy the 868 MHz version for use in Europe. The 915 MHz version (US) is not allowed in Europe.
What is the Heltec vision master e213?
Consider a scenario where your neighbourhood watch needs a message board that stays visible during extended power cuts. The Heltec Vision Master E213 combines an ESP32-S3 microcontroller with a 2.13" electronic paper display and optional SX1262 LoRa radio, creating a remarkably frugal communication platform.
The magic lies in that e-ink screen retaining its last message for up to 180 days without drawing a single watt. During deep sleep, the entire board sips just 20 microamps. Pair this with a modest solar panel and you have genuinely autonomous signage for community resilience planning.
Beyond the display, you get WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity built into the ESP32-S3, plus optional LoRa capability operating on the 868 MHz band. This flexibility means you can start with local wireless and expand to kilometre-spanning mesh coverage when ready.

Detailed description
Heltec offers three versions of the Vision Master E213: the base HT-VME213 without LoRa, the HT-VME213-LF for Asian frequencies, and the HT-VME213-HF supporting the 868 MHz band we use across the UK and Europe. Ensure you select the HF variant for LocalMesh compatibility.
Electronic paper shines in challenging lighting conditions where LCD and OLED screens wash out. Whether mounted in a sunny window or checked by torchlight during a night-time emergency, the display remains crisp. Full screen refreshes take approximately two seconds, making this better suited to status updates than rapid messaging.
Important: Only the HT-VME213-HF variant includes the LoRa transceiver necessary for mesh networking. Double-check your order before purchase, as some listings default to the non-LoRa version. Budget around £25-35 depending on supplier.
