Heltec vision master e290

When standard screen sizes feel cramped. The 2.9" e-ink display provides space for proper message content and detailed information.

Important: 868 MHz for Europe

Always buy the 868 MHz version for use in Europe. The 915 MHz version (US) is not allowed in Europe.

What is the Heltec vision master e290?

The Heltec Vision Master E290 addresses a genuine limitation of compact mesh devices: screen real estate. With 2.9 inches of e-ink display, you can actually read complete messages without scrolling through truncated text.

Resolution of 296x128 pixels enables multiple lines of readable text, status information, and even basic graphics. Like its smaller sibling, the display maintains its image for 180 days without power, perfect for Environment Agency flood warning stations or National Trust visitor information points.

Particularly interesting is the Raspberry Pi compatibility via 40-pin header. This enables sophisticated gateway configurations where the Pi handles internet connectivity and the E290 manages LoRa mesh communications.

Detailed description

The Vision Master E290 fills a specific niche: applications requiring substantial display content in low-power, outdoor-readable form. Partial refresh capability allows faster updates of specific screen regions without full refresh cycles.

Raspberry Pi integration opens gateway possibilities. Run a full Linux environment handling MQTT, web interfaces, and data logging whilst the E290 handles 868 MHz mesh traffic. Position these gateways across Britain to bridge mesh networks to internet services.

Note: The LoRa module is optional on some variants. Verify your order includes the SX1262 module if mesh networking is your primary purpose. The board functions as a pure e-ink display without the LoRa component.
