RAK wismesh base
A modular starting point for expandable mesh projects using the WisBlock architecture.
Important: 868 MHz for Europe
Always buy the 868 MHz version for use in Europe. The 915 MHz version (US) is not allowed in Europe.
Understanding the RAK wismesh base
The RAK WisMesh Base (officially called the WisBlock Meshtastic Starter Kit) pairs the RAK19007 baseboard with RAK4631 processor module. Together they form the cornerstone of RAK's expandable mesh ecosystem.
Inside the RAK4631 sits a Nordic nRF52840 microcontroller alongside Semtech's SX1262 transceiver. This pairing delivers impressive capability whilst sipping remarkably little power.
The WisBlock concept revolves around expandability: snap additional modules onto the baseboard's IO slots to add environmental sensors, positioning capability, visual displays, or other peripherals.

Practical applications
RAK conceived the WisBlock system for modular IoT development. The RAK19007 baseboard presents multiple slots for expansion whilst the RAK4631 provides computing power and radio capability.
Several baseboards exist: RAK19003 for compact builds, RAK19007 for balanced expansion options, and RAK19001 featuring dual IO slots for ambitious projects.
Important: RAK4631 modules exist in two versions - standard (Arduino bootloader) and RAK4631-R (RUI3 bootloader). MeshCore requires the Arduino bootloader variant.
