MeshCore device

Elecrow thinknode m1

A genuinely pocketable communicator built for British hillwalkers and emergency responders. E-paper clarity meets all-day battery life.

Important: 868 MHz for Europe

Always buy the 868 MHz version for use in Europe. The 915 MHz version (US) is not allowed in Europe.

What is the elecrow thinknode m1?

Imagine trekking across the Scottish Highlands with no mobile Signal, yet staying in contact with your group scattered across adjacent peaks. The Elecrow ThinkNode M1 makes this possible through its combination of energy-efficient nRF52840 processor, SX1262 LoRa radio, and e-paper display visible even in blinding snow glare.

That 1.54" electronic paper screen draws power only when refreshing content, letting the substantial 1200mAh battery stretch to roughly 48 hours of active use. The integrated GPS module tracks your position using multiple satellite constellations, sharing your location with fellow mesh users automatically.

Straight from the box, the ThinkNode M1 arrives with Meshtastic firmware already installed. The tactile rotary knob and physical buttons work reliably with gloved hands, making this a genuine all-weather companion rather than a fair-weather gadget.

Detailed description

Elecrow engineered the ThinkNode M1 as a turnkey solution rather than a bare development board. You receive either the core unit or a version with protective housing, ready for immediate deployment without requiring electronic assembly skills.

The nRF52840 chipset consumes a mere 5.6 microamps during sleep mode, translating to extraordinary longevity between charges. With GPS enabled and the device actively participating in the mesh, expect around 24 hours. Disable positioning and runtime extends to four or five days on a single charge.

Electronic paper technology excels outdoors where backlit screens become unreadable. The ThinkNode's display remains perfectly legible in direct sunshine and retains the last message even after the battery depletes. Two-second refresh times suit text messaging nicely.
